Serving wine at the table
Δευτέρα 30 Νοεμβρίου 2020
It’s served at the table not only to accompany food, but to bring people together, spark conversation, and create memories.
Temperature Matters
Each type of wine has its ideal serving temperature:
-
White and rosé wines should be served chilled (8–12°C / 46–54°F),
-
Red wines slightly cool or at room temperature (14–18°C / 57–64°F),
-
and sparkling wines need deeper chilling (6–8°C / 43–46°F).
Serving wine at the right temperature brings out its aromas and balance.
The Glass is Not Just a Detail
A good glass isn’t a luxury – it’s a tool.
-
White wines do well in smaller, narrower glasses to preserve aromas,
-
Red wines benefit from larger, tulip-shaped glasses that allow them to breathe,
-
and sparkling wines are best in flute glasses to maintain the bubbles and freshness.
Pour with Purpose
Fill the glass only about one-third full. This gives the wine room to breathe and lets you appreciate it fully – especially through its scent.
Order Matters
If you're serving more than one type of wine at the table, follow this order:
Sparkling → White → Rosé → Red → Dessert wines
From lightest to fullest, so no aroma or flavor is lost along the way.
Pair with Food Thoughtfully
A great pairing elevates the entire experience. Try:
-
Dry red with red meats,
-
Aromatic white with fish or soft cheeses,
-
Semi-sweet with spicy or exotic dishes,
-
Dessert wine with sweets or aged cheeses.
Set the Mood
Wine is not just about taste – it’s about atmosphere. Pay attention to music, lighting, and room temperature. Everything affects how we perceive wine.
Serving wine is an act of care – for yourself and your guests. You don’t need extravagance, only a love for quality and a touch of passion. Cheers!
