Grilled Sardines

If you want a simple yet explosive summer dish that brings the feeling of the sea to your table, grilled sardines over charcoal are the perfect choice. With their rich flavor and smoky aroma, they pair wonderfully with a fresh salad and, of course, a glass of chilled white wine, such as the Dry White Wine Mavropetritis.


Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg fresh sardines (cleaned and head removed)

  • 3 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

  • 3 garlic cloves (finely chopped)

  • Salt and freshly ground pepper

  • Fresh parsley (for serving)

  • Lemon slices (for serving)


? Instructions:

  1. Prepare the sardines
    Rinse the sardines well and let them drain. If they are not already cleaned, carefully remove the heads and clean them.

  2. Marinade
    In a bowl, mix the olive oil, lemon juice, chopped garlic, salt, and pepper. Add the sardines and let them marinate for about 20-30 minutes.

  3. Grill over charcoal
    Heat the grill over hot charcoal. Place the sardines on the grill and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until they develop a nice color and become crispy.

  4. Serving
    Place the sardines on a plate, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve with lemon slices. Accompany with a glass of chilled Dry White Wine Mavropetritis, which enhances the freshness and aroma of the sea.
