Our connection to the land & the people behind it
At this stage, we focus. Before winemaking, before bottling, before the table.Where it all begins: in the vineyard and with the person who nurtures it.At Aretousa Wines, we strategically invest in building and maintaining long-term partnerships with growers from across Greece. These relationships are not opportunistic or short-lived — they are built to last, founded on consistency and transparency. Our shared goal is clear: to produce high-quality wines with identity and character.
Our partner selection is based on both quality and geographical criteria. We have developed a reliable network of growers across key viticultural zones of the country. In Crete and the Peloponnese, we work with experienced local viticulturists on varieties such as Moschofilero, Agiorgitiko, Chardonnay, Sideritis, and Roditis. In Attica, we source Savatiano from areas with a deep-rooted winegrowing tradition. In Tyrnavos and Elassona, we obtain Muscat and Sauvignon Blanc respectively — from vineyards that thrive in Thessaly’s favorable microclimate.
These partnerships have now evolved beyond the purely commercial. Our relationships with most growers are long-standing and continue to grow on a personal level. There is direct and regular communication, joint planning, and the exchange of know-how. We are present at every stage — from monitoring vine growth to jointly deciding the optimal harvest time. Our approach is not merely transactional; it is collaborative.
Our strategic choice to work with growers from different geographical zones allows us to access a wide range of grape varieties, as well as the distinct oenological characteristics offered by each region. The terroir of each area — including soil composition, microclimate, and vineyard exposure — plays a crucial role in shaping the flavor and aromatic profile of the grapes. This approach allows us to preserve the authenticity of each variety and ensure that our vinifications accurately reflect their origin.
At the same time, we place strong emphasis on viticultural practices. All our partners follow sustainable farming methods, with minimal intervention and respect for biodiversity. Harvesting is done by hand to protect the integrity of the fruit during transport and avoid oxidation or unnecessary pressure.Every grape that reaches the winery is the result of careful and well-coordinated work.
For us, the raw material is not just the starting point of the process. It is the defining factor of the final product’s quality. That’s why we choose to build our foundations with people who share the same philosophy: dedication, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to quality.
Our collaboration with growers spans different geographical regions of Greece — from Crete and the Peloponnese to Attica, Tyrnavos, and Elassona. These partnerships have evolved into long-term, mutually beneficial relationships, built on trust and a shared goal: the production of exceptional quality wine. Our connection with the land is the foundation. But wine comes to life through the care of human hands.
